We gave a bit of an update on the Renewable Heat Premium Payment scheme last week, but now even bigger news: the part of the scheme open solely for social housing providers is open for business today.
It’s not money for all though – local authorities and social housing associations can bid for a share of the £3 million pot to make home heating improvements to tenants’ homes.
We’re inviting bids for funds of up to around £175,000 per housing provider to support proposals – this should finance at least 17 social housing projects.
There’s a month to get a bid in – the deadline is 15 September.
The bids will be evaluated by a panel of our experts on criteria including value for money, the number of individual heating systems installed, the opportunity for learning – always important when rolling out breakthrough technologies – and the number of homes not supplied by mains gas.
Successful applicants will be informed in early October and can start installing the kit in the housing as soon as they receive confirmation of their winning bid.
